Family Day! Well, this is probably my last race for a while. I felt really bad after the race because my wife's feet swelled so much. It was an all day event. We started the day off right by going to church and then we left for Beaver, PA. We were tired because our power went off for two hours last night. Our smoke detector kept beeping, so I kept my wife up for two hours because I was trying to figure out which smoke detector was beeping. My wife said to check the CO2 detector, sure enough that was it. She is so smart!

We get to the race and watch my dad race in the 4/5 race. In my dad's race there were 73 starters, 27 at the end. My dad got slowed down by a crash before the uphill in the last 1/2 mile. If it wouldn't have been for the crash, he probably would have easily been in the top 4.

Well, I knew Paul Martin would be at the race and it was no surprise that he won the first prime and continued a break of 9. I was fortunate enough to be up front to see this break happen. Just as we were about to get caught by the field, I won the pizza prime. You know me anything for food and I am going for it! Tom Freuh told me to keep the pace going. So then another break formed. Tom, Paul, Chris Cioccio, Jason Zimmerman, and I stayed out away from the field the rest of the race.

Tom had a flat at the end of the race. I was very sorry to hear that! Paul took off with 1 lap to go, I did everything I could to chase him down with Jason Zimmerman on my wheel. Then Jason pulled the rest of the way once we knew we couldn't catch the superhuman strength of Paul Martin. Thanks be to Jesus my Lord and Savior!
