This was a great course (110k) with a 6000 ft summit finish on Mt. Bachelor. We started with a 3000 ft. descent that got a little tedious with 82 riders... no centerline rule in this one. The middle 70k was fairly flat with constant attacks off the front that were all suppressed fairly quickly. There were 20 mph cross-winds that kept the group tight. The last 20k of the race contained almost all of the climbing, with a 2500 ascent up Mt. Bachelor. I moved to the front on one of the last big climbs with 8k to go, took one pull and sat back in the group... then the big attack came. I was shelled off the back with 5k to go when I started cramping and finished 46th... This was a stretch race for me, so I was happy to be reasonably competitive, especially racing at this altitude. I just wish I had more time to visit all 14 microbreweries in Bend...
